After we left Mackay and headed towards Cairns we struck a lot of rain and flooding around Innisfail |
| We were held up for an hour or so at one place where the water was across the road and it was closed for a while. | ![]() |

The scenery is absolutely beautiful in far north Qld. so many can fields it is incredible. Something we miss around home now that the Nambour mill has closed and the cane fields have dissappeared. Cane is grown everywhere, the fields go on and on and on.... |
| Karren caught the train up and joined us and we headed north from Cairns up towards the Daintree to visit Max and Robyn, we called in to Palm Cove, about an hour north of Cairns a very beautiful seaside spot. | <![]() |

Palm Cove, you would think you were in Fiji so many palm trees and lovely white sands. Glorious. |
| We stopped in Port Douglas and had a lovely lunch On the Inlet. What a fabulous spot to sit and soak up the view and enjoy some fresh seafood and a glass of crisp cold white wine.. | ![]() |

Arrived at Max's after crossing on the punt, very old world up here. It is so quiet and peaceful. |
| He has his own rain forest on the property and has built a boadwalk. The property has a cafe and it is usually leased out and managed, currently Max is doing some renovations so it is closed. Robyn took us for a walk through the rain forest and showed us all the differnt plants. It was magnificent. They have a picnic table setting right in the middle, and the amazing thing is - there are hardly any insects... We were well stocked up for our visit with all kinds of repellents but we found less insects up here than at home... Unbelievable... It was just perfect... what an experience... | ![]() |

Some of the trees are so facinating and beautiful. |
| Max sitting on a rock in one of their favorite swimming holes. A local creek. So cool and refreshing and especially during the summer months when the box jelly fish are about, a much safer option. No crockadiles here. Didn't see any, anywhere. | ![]() |

Max and Robyn. We went for lunch at a local restaurant owned by some friends of theirs. |
| On the drive home we crossed many little creeks along the road.. We are heading back to Cairns to put Karren on the train to go back to Nambour. We will spend a day at Kuranda before she goes, looking forward to the gondola and train trip. | ![]() |
